Mitsubishi Electric Backs Array Labs in $21 Million Strategic Funding Round

Array Labs has secured an additional $21 million in an oversubscribed strategic funding round, marking another major milestone in the company's mission to redefine space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). The investment is anchored by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, one of Japan's leading aerospace and defense companies, alongside continued participation from existing investors Catapult Ventures, Kompas VC, and Y Combinator.
Beyond the capital injection, the announcement establishes a strategic partnership between Array Labs and Mitsubishi Electric to jointly develop and commercialize satellite-based maritime and airborne moving target tracking services for defense and security customers across the Asia-Pacific region.
The latest financing follows Array Labs' Series A funding round announced in January 2026, providing additional resources to accelerate technology development and operational deployment.
Closing a Critical Intelligence Gap
For decades, satellite imagery has primarily delivered static snapshots of the Earth's surface. While invaluable for mapping terrain, infrastructure, and environmental monitoring, conventional imaging satellites struggle to continuously track aircraft, vessels, and other moving objects.
As geopolitical tensions rise and governments seek greater situational awareness, the ability to monitor dynamic activity across vast oceans, contested borders, and increasingly congested airspace has become a strategic necessity.
Array Labs aims to address this long-standing capability gap by delivering persistent orbital monitoring, enabling defense and intelligence agencies to observe movement as it happens rather than reconstructing events after they occur.

Rather than relying on a single large and expensive radar satellite, Array Labs has developed a distributed architecture built around clusters of smaller, mass-manufacturable radar satellites operating together as one coordinated sensor.

Mitsubishi Electric has supplied advanced radar, satellite, and defense electronics to Japan's Ministry of Defense for more than five decades. Earlier this year, the company was also selected to develop Japan's next-generation defense satellite system.
By combining Mitsubishi Electric's manufacturing capabilities, defense relationships, and satellite systems expertise with Array Labs' distributed radar technology, both companies intend to deliver operational Airborne and Maritime Moving Target Indicator (AMTI) services for regional defense and security customers.
