HDRM Clamp: Motor operated rotary HDRM devices
The EXA Clamp Hold down & Release Mechanism (HDRM-CLAMP) has been designed for the Small Satellite range (50 to 500 Kg) deployables like solar arrays, hatches or any other deployable mechanisms that need a safe, no-compromise, electrically powered HDRM.
With a very small footprint (56x22x15 mm), surface mount, very low mass (32 g) and small power consumption (<1W), yet boasting a hold-down force of up to 48.9 Newtons and a retention force of over 245 Newtons, it has been tested to hold down solar arrays as big as 500x530x1500 mm during launch, its precious metals brush micro motor with 1000:1 gear box lubricated by industry-standard Castrol® Braycote® 601EF easily and safely withstand the conditions in LEO, MEO, GEO and Lunar surface, very simple to operate over a wide range of voltages (5 to 24V) and fast action (<1.5s) insures release of any deployables in space.
Analog and digital versions are available, on the analog version, you just need to send a TTL signal to an SSR relay or a MOSFET allowing to pass 5 to 24V to the HDRM, depending on your deployment speed requirements.
