Helsing and OHB have launched “KIRK,” a new joint venture developing AI-powered tactical space reconnaissance and targeting systems for Europe. The consortium, which also includes Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and HENSOLDT, aims to deliver near-real-time battlefield intelligence through software-defined satellites, advanced ISR technologies, and AI-driven targeting capabilities.

KONGSBERG and Helsing have formed a strategic alliance to build Europe’s sovereign space-based intelligence and targeting constellation by 2029. With sensor technology from HENSOLDT and launch support from Isar Aerospace, the partnership aims to deliver a resilient, AI-driven IST architecture that strengthens Europe’s deterrence and defense capabilities.

The HAL–HENSOLDT LiDAR-based Obstacle Avoidance System marks a new phase in Indo–German defense collaboration. Reflecting Europe’s evolving industrial posture under Germany’s Zeitenwende, the project showcases shared development, resilient supply chains, and next-generation helicopter safety technologies designed for global operational challenges.
