GlobalFoundries (GF) and Navitas Semiconductor announced a strategic long-term partnership to accelerate the design and manufacturing of gallium nitride (GaN) technology within the United States. This collaboration aims to deliver high-efficiency, high-density power solutions for demanding markets, including AI data centers, high-performance computing, energy infrastructure, and industrial electrification.

Navitas, a pioneer in GaN and silicon carbide (SiC) technologies, has successfully deployed GaN in high-volume sectors like mobile fast chargers and electric vehicles. By partnering with GF—a world-class foundry with decades of experience in reliable, large-scale production—Navitas is moving to meet the surging demand for GaN in high-power applications.

The companies will manufacture next-generation GaN technology at GF’s facility in Burlington, Vermont. This site will leverage GF's high-voltage GaN-on-Silicon expertise alongside Navitas’ industry-leading device knowledge. Development is slated to begin in early 2026, with full-scale production expected by the end of that year.

This partnership provides customers with a secure, scalable, and advanced U.S.-based supply chain for GaN. By establishing a domestic manufacturing pathway, GF and Navitas are supporting national security and economic competitiveness while driving the decarbonization of energy and computing platforms.

“GaN is fundamentally changing how the world manages power, and this partnership is a major step forward for U.S. semiconductor leadership,” said Tim Breen, CEO of GlobalFoundries. “Working with Navitas allows us to build a secure and sustainable supply chain for the technologies powering the future of AI and industrial innovation.”

“As GaN adoption accelerates in high-power markets like AI data centers and grid infrastructure, our partnership with GF ensures Navitas can provide the performance and scale our customers require,” said Chris Allexandre, President and CEO of Navitas. “Together, we are creating the foundation for next-generation applications critical to both national competitiveness and global energy sustainability.”
