Saab has announced a strategic partnership with Maxar Intelligence, a leading provider of geospatial intelligence, aimed at transforming multi-domain defence operations through advanced space-based capabilities.
This collaboration will enable Saab to integrate Maxar’s high-resolution satellite imagery, terrain data, and innovative software solutions into its defence systems. A key focus is enhancing GPS-resilient technologies, particularly in environments where GPS signals are compromised. Maxar’s Raptor software, which allows drones to navigate without GPS or additional hardware, will be instrumental in this effort .
The partnership also aims to strengthen Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) capabilities, ensuring more robust and intelligent systems for modern battlefields. This initiative is seen as a significant step in bolstering European defence, especially amid heightened security concerns due to ongoing global conflicts.
Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, stated, “Our collaboration with Maxar represents a significant leap forward in our commitment to use information from the Space domain and thereby enhancing the strategic defence capabilities of Europe and beyond.”
This partnership builds upon previous collaborations between Saab and Maxar, including the development of advanced aeronautical database solutions for enhanced situational awareness in aviation
