The word espionage has been most commonly referred to defense, government, and corporate sectors. Though it has not been so much popular buzzword in the space industry, the privatization of the space industry has put more spotlight on this term.

As the commercialization of space technologies has opened a gateway of opportunities for the both public and private sectors, government agencies strive to unlock the potential of the space resources for their respective economic and security growths. Simultaneously, the competition for supremacy in space has become increasingly fierce over time due to the clash of non-aligned geopolitical interests between the nations, for example, the United States and China.

The privatization wave has definitely uplifted the space industry’s global reach but also created flexible access to different types of satellite technologies; Which were primarily available for access to only a handful of private companies and a majority of government bodies.
