ARABSAT Selects ACTIA Aerospace to Deliver Strategic Q/V-Band Gateway Infrastructure for ARABSAT-7A

ARABSAT has selected ACTIA Aerospace to design, deliver, and deploy a next-generation Q/V-band RF gateway infrastructure, an essential pillar of the ground segment for its upcoming software-defined satellite, ARABSAT-7A.

A strategic backbone for ARABSAT’s software-defined future

The deployment will include two geographically separated gateway sites, enhancing network resilience, increasing overall capacity, and enabling flexible traffic routing. This architecture is designed to support a broad portfolio of managed high-throughput services, serving enterprise, mobility, maritime, aviation, and government customers across ARABSAT’s coverage footprint.

More than a capacity upgrade, the Q/V-band gateway infrastructure is a cornerstone of ARABSAT’s transition from traditional GEO architectures toward software-defined satellite systems. By enabling dynamic service allocation, optimized spectrum utilization, and scalable customer solutions, the gateways position ARABSAT to respond rapidly to evolving market demands and surging digital connectivity needs.

ACTIA Aerospace will deliver a fully integrated, turnkey solution, covering system design, deployment, testing, commissioning, operator training, and long-term technical support. The approach ensures ARABSAT can operate the infrastructure autonomously, while maintaining high availability and operational security.

The contract was signed on the sidelines of the ARABSAT Telecom Forum, marking another milestone in the long-standing partnership between ARABSAT and ACTIA Aerospace.

Executive perspectives

Dr. Badr N. Alsuwaidan, President and CEO of ARABSAT, said:

“With cutting-edge technologies and advanced managed broadband services, ARABSAT-7A represents a major step in our evolution toward high-throughput, software-defined satellite systems. Deploying Q/V-band gateways is fundamental to this vision, enabling more agile, scalable, and resilient services to meet the rapidly growing digital connectivity needs across our markets.”

François Contou-Carrère, CEO of ACTIA Aerospace, added:

“We are proud to deploy next-generation Q/V-band gateway technologies that are now as critical as the satellite itself. This fully integrated, secure, and scalable solution supports ARABSAT’s transformation toward flexible, software-defined GEO architectures and enables the development of innovative satellite services across the MENA region and beyond.”
